My circumstances:
I had just left my husband and unfortunately signed everything over to him just to get out, he left me with some joint debt but I took it on (stupid I here you say) unless you are going through a separation you have no idea! Any way by the time I realised the trouble I was in my debt had escultated to £34,000 and I was on my own, I have a good job so thought I could handle it but the payments became too much so looked into going down the IVA route. Worse mistake of my life. I contacted Blair and asked them to go through the details, as you can appreciate I was not probably in the right frame of mind and if I had been thinking clearly would maybe have looked into a different way of dealing with this debt.

They explained to the best of my knowledge the details of the IVA - which to date I now know NOT everything was explained and the finer details of their fee of £9,500 was slightly missed out and the fact that they would take their payment first before deciding to pay my creditors. Anyway as I was about to join the IVA I lost my job which I informed the IVA immediately and which I have done over the past 2 and half years I have had this, letting them know ever step of the way if my circumstances changed or if I came into a bit of money I paid them half. They informed me that it could go ahead and it was agreed that I pay £550. I then got a new job and was then able to pay £650 which was the figure originally agreed with my creditors. Because of the job I do I do get quite a bit of overtime, and Blair noticed this and requested 50% of that too, something they failed to mention at the beginning of the IVA. I then decided to contact Blair asking for explanations to this, and as usual which you agree if you have an IVA, you get no response or you get a response from a ramdom person that answers the phone who has not more qualifications than my pet cat! and I get more sense out of her. I have written in the past two years more letters than I can think but never a response or one that answers any of my questions. They have now told me that I may fail my IVA because I am in arrears by £2500 which they failed to let me know when I was making the payments of £650, and they want this paid within the next 6 months which is not going to happen. They also dropped a bombshell by telling me that my total debt is £48,000 because I owe them £9,500 and they have to take their fee before my creditors receive any of the debt (what can I say) they have me over a barrel if I pull out I loose my £6,000 already paid and my creditors will have only received £4,000 in two years. I am now paying an amount of £900 for the next 3 years, they reckon I will be short by £4,000 of the whole debt. They told me at the beginning that I pay this over 5 years and at the end the rest will be written off, but because I do a lot of overtime they see I am earning more and can pay the debt off in full (which I am not moaning about, after all I got the debt, I should pay it) but they also state that if and when i pay the full debt the creditors could then ask for up to 8% of the full amount of interest accrued. I am lost for words with this company. I never get a straight answer, no one knows what they are doing, and I am not sure they are even paying my creditors I have no faith in them whatsoever.

Also my insolvency practitioner is supposedly Nick Morgan I have spoken to him twice in 2 years not bad really. Also I was told by way of the other dogs bodies on their call centre, that "he was doing me a favour calling he didnt have to tell me the information" WHAT THE HELL AM I PAYING £9500 FOR THEN!!!!! ok I have had my moan
My interaction with the company:
They were helpful at the beginning and then they took my money and now couldnt really give a monkeys about my situation, I am just another person in debt
Why I gave the ratings I did:
I rated them 1 because there wasnt the option of 0 I have never been so let down by a company and rude members of staff
One thing they did - which really impressed me:
I am still waiting for it to happen will let you know if it does - maybe if they said sorry we made a complete cock up of your IVA we will pay it for you, now I would be well impressed
One thing they did - which I felt could be improved:
They need to teach there staff customer relation skills - as I do not think one of them has a brain cell to understand the meaning of the word diplomacy
Other points
My situation is worse than before I went into the IVA - and as far as writing off the amounts I cant ever see that happening I am going to have to pay this whole thing - doesnt pay to work yourself into the ground they take it from you anyway and expect you to live on £50 a week which includes everything

    Good Points
Very informative with lots of useful information. A lot of reviews on firms that really help understand their customer service and ability. The reviews appear to be genuine as they offer interesting insights. Didn't really use the the map but looks impressive!
    Bad Points
The site is a bit cluttered and sometimes hard to navigate around.
    General Comments
A useful site that is free to use and full of useful information about IVAs. If you are thinking of doing an IVA then this is a must use site.
