|Im a civil servant living in the south west, I had 31k of debt with no capital assets. Im also a recovering gambeler which was in part responsible for my debts.|
|My interaction with the company:|
|I got Melanie Giles name from an IVA forum on the internet, I chose her because she had mentioned that she wouldnt rule out working on an IVA for someone who had got into financial problems through gambling - provided the circumstances (basically no longer gambling) were acceptable. I emailed her and was phoned back within 24 hours by one of her debt advisors - who was really switched on and non judgemental, she spoke to me over the next week or so until the Melanie agreed to accept my case and take an IVA forward. Communication was through email and phone calls and the admin staff were switched on at the office as well. I was quite organised in collecting all my debt related and other paperwork which helped move things along. Once they had all the paperwork they worked on the proposal and I spoke to other people in Melanies office whose job that was, this culminated in a meeting with Melanie, which i did face to face, this was unhurried and lasted a couple of hours where we revised the IVA proposal. The creditors meeting took place and there were some adjustment to it which I was prepared for and once they were made it was accepted.|
|Why I gave the ratings I did:|
|I scored them highly. The debt advice at the start was outstanding, a really good combination of personal interest and professional advice, i felt i was with a company that cared about my situation. The admin was competent and professional and Melanie was very straight and straightforward and no time did i feel that they didnt have the time to discuss any issue i might have had. I felt really confident in the advice I was given. I gave them a 9 rather than a 10 because I wasnt always aware who in Melanies team was responsible for what - that is being really picky!|
|One thing they did - which really impressed me:|
|Took a personal interest in me to the point of getting an email from the original person I spoke to (the debt advisor) saying how pleased she was for me that the IVA had been approved and wishing me well!|
|One thing they did - which I felt could be improved:|
|The company is well organised with people who have clear responsibilities for dealing with you at different stages of the IVA process - clearer explanation of who you will be dealing with at each stage would be even better.|
|My dividend is 66p in the £ writing off just over £10k. Ive got a really good structure around managing my finances now and i feel pretty good about it.|
