My circumstances:
my name is keith latimer, and both my wife (shirley) and myself found ourselves in a nightmare of debt after financing the purchase of a public house. As we had agreed our house sale, (due to complete the following week) we saw no problem with raising the money for the purchase with credit cards and bank loans. As our credit rateing was excellent, we had no problems, and our bank was happy to make the funds available. We never thought that the house sale would fall through, and when it did, we slipped into a chaotic world of debt and threatening calls from creditors, a world that was totally alien to us.
My interaction with the company:
We were given DEBT LIFEBOATS phone No and from the very first call we were given very firm but straight advice. We were told that our total debts were closing on £120,000 and in all honesty we were both staggered at the numbers presented to us. They told us that they would do thier best, but to be prepared to be made bankrupt. Although we were left reeling by the word bankrupt we felt we were treated respectfully and like human beings that had made an honest mistake. But nothing could prepare us for the result that the team at Lifeboat delivered, our £120,000 debt was reduced to £20,000 on an IVA, and this was paid and cleared within one year from the first phone call to lifeboat
Why I gave the ratings I did:
I gave the ratings because there was allways someone at the end of the line to talk to, i was never put on hold and whoever answered, it felt as though they were understanding the hurt and pain we were feeling.
One thing they did - which really impressed me:
The contact, there is nothing worse than not knowing what is happening, and answering the phone, someone to talk to and reassure when you feel low
One thing they did - which I felt could be improved:
Yes, you really should provide a box for a higher rating, Well done and thanks.
Other points
Debt free and rebuilding our lives.

    Good Points
Very informative with lots of useful information. A lot of reviews on firms that really help understand their customer service and ability. The reviews appear to be genuine as they offer interesting insights. Didn't really use the the map but looks impressive!
    Bad Points
The site is a bit cluttered and sometimes hard to navigate around.
    General Comments
A useful site that is free to use and full of useful information about IVAs. If you are thinking of doing an IVA then this is a must use site.
