| My circumstances: |
| I was a property developer and in the 2007 crash was left with £840 000.00 of unsecured debts. |
| My interaction with the company: |
| I totally wasted two years with Churchward Financial organising a debt consolidation plan, not relising that this didnt freeze interest accruing which almost added 30% to my debts with no real ability to pay them off. I was then put in touch with DLB via an agent and an IVA was arranged fairly quickly.I continued with the IVA for about a year but then another unsecured debtor registered and the IVA had to be varied. There was a very low chance of avoiding bankruptcy with a possible divided of 2p in the pound but the proposal was accepted much to everyones surprise. The final divided paid was 2.55p in the pound and £818 000.00 was written off, with payments made of £21 400.00. |

| Not all colleagues were as empathetic or knowledgeable as Elenor and Im sure there would have been a different outcome if my case had been handled by another colleague<br> with less interest in understanding my case. More emphasis could have been placed on the results of an injection of capital from a third party. |

| Previously answered. I have now received my certificate of completion of my IVA after one years payments. £818K WAS WRITTEN OFF. I have learnt not to debt consolidate, it makes things worse, not to trust Debt Help Direct as they took £800 off me for no service whilst I was trying to help my ex-husband go bankrupt and not allow any charges to be put on my home. The IVA immediately stops legal action whilst all the banks are sending unprepared solicitors to solely put charges on your home and pretend its not serious and theyre on your side. They are vultures picking over your carcass when they are responsible for your death. There are still some arrogant judges around that expect deference rather than respect even in this day and age, maybe some members of the legal profession need to be brought into the real world. People need to realise that business id risky and often down to luck, just because you go bankrupt doest mean youre incompetent. Finally, you are in control of your destiny, no-one can do it for you, get as much info as possible and make the decision. |
