| My circumstances: |
| I am a teacher living in West Midlands. I had 38k of debt and a property with less than 5k equity. I got into difficulties because my self employed husband was not earning. |
| My interaction with the company: |
| I contacted Clear Start initially in October 06, at that time I did not have enough money left to qualify for an IVA so I was directed to Kensington Financial Services for debt management. In February my husbands earnings were increasing and along with a disappointing dealing with Kensington I decided to try again for an IVA. I found Clearstart very helpful particularly Hedley, who reassured and advised me. |
| Why I gave the ratings I did: |
| I rated 10/10 because they were very helpful and reassuring, especially Hedley who was my first contact. He listened to me and then advised me without jargon the best option for me. I am very grateful to Clearstart for helping me, I feel so much better now that the debt is under control and will be paid off. I am relieved that the phone calls from creditors have stopped. |

| One of the best things for me was having an advisor come to our house to check through the forms and calculations and again reassure us that we were doing the right thing, and taking the forms away with him helped to speed up the process. |

| I have made my first IVA payment, I think about £15,000 will be written off, I feel a little bad that I am not paying back all of the money that I have had but then I do think of all the interest they piled on so I am grateful for the reduction. I have learnt that getting credit is far too easy and I am grateful that i will not be able to get any credit whilst I have the IVA and for a short time after. I hope I get used to not using credit in this time and will not rely on it after my IVA is complete. I am glad to be paying back what I owe and relieved that I have avoided bankruptcy. |
