My circumstances:
I am a clerk in a warehouse my wife works as a production operative between us we had over owed over 100k we rent our home from the council and have no assets exept for a 10 year old car.<br> <br> IVA.com reports: Debt Free Direct has contacted this individual via Iva.com to discuss their comments. Debt Free Direct have advised that they have made significant improvements to their customer service to ensure that their clients receive the highest level of service. More recent customer reviews of their service can be found on their website www.debtfreedirect.co.uk/reviews/. <br> <br>
My interaction with the company:
when i rang them they suggested an IVA and were helpfull but did not speak to me about going bankrupt exept to confirm that it would become public knowledge and an IVA would not....which is untrue they have even been in tuch with my employers wages dpt and personnel .
Why I gave the ratings I did:
once that the IVA was in place they did not seem to care when I phoned them. I could never get past the telephonist. any problems I had were mine and not theirs all they could say was that "you will be in default"<br> when my department was going to be made redundant I phoned them right away to find out what to do all I was told was "you have to send all the money to us" I was given no advice If I had been made redundant and sent them the money I would have had no job no way to claim benifits so would have ended up homeless walking the streets.<br> As it turned out I managed to get another position in the same company so did not recive any redundancy payment but this wad on a much reduced wage it want down by about£500 per month.<br> When I informed the company they would not belive me I sent in bank statments wage slips a letter from work, but they still wanted the money in the end they asked for the phoe and fax No for my employer. This happend in June 2006 I rang again to explain I could not keep up the same level of payments £1440 pm they sent out a variations pack which I filled in and disscussed with someone a week later then heard nothing.<br> To keep up the payments I have sold everything of any value I had tools watch ornaments rugs coffe table.<br> Finaly in october I rang again was told they had no record of me speaking to them and that I could not reduce the payment....I did this myself and paid them£1000 pm expecting to get a responce from them.<br> I final did in March 2007 when I was sent a letter saying I had made NO payments and they were going to make me bankrupt.
One thing they did - which really impressed me:
The person I am in tuch with now is helpfull and has given a phone No that I can reach her on, and now feel that I can now relax.
One thing they did - which I felt could be improved:
explain at the time that they are not qualified to advise on bankrupsy which they have told me since is the case.

Comment: I am employed by Debt Free Direct. Since this review was posted, we have set up a dedicated advice team, which offers advice to all our clients, to ensure consistency and quality of advice, and that the client has considered all options, including bankruptcy, before committing to one. We have also set up a dedicated Customer Care Team so every client has a point of contact, and any queries during their IVA are answered promptly and effectively.

Comment: We are in a similar situation ourselves and are progressing with the bankruptcy as every offer we have made to clear our debt has never been passed on to our creditors.

Comment: How ridiculous to tell you they are not qualified to give you advice on bankruptcy. They are insolvency practitioners!

Comment: Big advertsising on tv, poor advice by staff, poor customer service, I am going elsewhere.

Comment: This shows appalling lack of professionalism by Debt Free Direct. I very much doubt whether this person should ever have been in an IVA - bankruptcy would almost certainly have been much better, quicker & cheaper.

    Good Points
Very informative with lots of useful information. A lot of reviews on firms that really help understand their customer service and ability. The reviews appear to be genuine as they offer interesting insights. Didn't really use the the map but looks impressive!
    Bad Points
The site is a bit cluttered and sometimes hard to navigate around.
    General Comments
A useful site that is free to use and full of useful information about IVAs. If you are thinking of doing an IVA then this is a must use site.
