I am a teacher living in east midlands, I had a 50K debt and a property with 6k equity. Recession and 3 kids, childcare meant I became over-reliant on credit cards. I was terrified, but IVA advice bureau really helped me.
My interaction with the company:
I used Vincent Bonds at first, who went through all my details and then advised me to go to IVA advice bureau. They were very good and spoke/emailed me frequently with advice and requests. The paperwork was mangeable and their help and paitence over my frequent questions were very good. I often felt nervous, upset or confused and after a lenghty or quick chat with the firm - I always understood and felt much better. They were honest, straightforward, helpful and respectful. Despite all the emotions, guilt and blame I went through re: getting myself in this situation - not once did they blame me or make me feel bad. They were excellent.
Why I gave the ratings I did:
I rated them highly as they kept me uptodate with all the proceedings, they fitted meetings via emails or telephoen around my work and kids. They were very clear and woudl answer loads or questions.
One thing they did - which really impressed me:
The care and attnetion to detail, so I understood how much I would have to pay and when and hpow much I had for each individual bill. I use their expenditure and income lists as a spreadsheet for my accounts now. So i feel much more in control. They also helped reduce the unpleasant calls from creditors.
One thing they did - which I felt could be improved:
The initial time of procedeedings could have been outlined in a little more detail, I was originally told it would be a few weeks - 6/8, but it became 3/4 months. However, it was the orignal peopel I spoke to that gave me this info, not the people in the IVA advice bureau.
