| My circumstances: |
| I am a paramedic living in Norfolk with total unsecured debts of approx 59k. Having dealt with a divorce and the cost of a marriage breakup plus CSA payments I had got into the debt spiral of borrowing to service ever increasing debt. Over a large number of years I was able to service my debts by continually borrowing which simply made the situation worse. Over a ten year period I had never managed to take a proper holiday or enjoy the fruits of a relatively well paid job because all my salary was going on loan repayments. Eventually I found that I was unable to borrow any more and my bank refused me a extension on my overdraft. At this point I knew I couldnt carry on like this and turned to Ostrich for help. |
| My interaction with the company: |
| Ostrich were friendly and efficient. They looked at my financial situation and proposed that an IVA would be a better option for me than bankruptcy which is what I was considering. I knew about IVAs but didnt consider that any company could achieve one for me because of the level of debt I had. Ostrich were open and honest and made it clear from the outset that if an IVA wasnt realistic option that they wouldnt suggest that solution to my problems. |
| Why I gave the ratings I did: |
| From the beginning Ostrich came over as a highly professional and efficient firm. There advice and approach meant that I had some hope that if anyone could achieve an IVA for me they could. <br> <br> The proof of their honesty and professionalism is that succeeded in getting my creditors to agree an IVA! |
| One thing they did - which really impressed me: |
| The speed of service when dealing with the paperwork and the IVA proposal with some subsequent amendments was accomplished very quickly. On some occasions I would send a form off and it would be returned to me within 2-3 days. |
| One thing they did - which I felt could be improved: |
| Whilst this is not a criticism I felt that more phone contact from Ostrich to me after the IVA proposal had been made to my creditors would have prevented me having to phone them with unnecessary questions. |
| Other points |
| I am now at the beginning of my IVA and feel that Ostrich were instrumental in helping me put a successful proposal of payment to my creditors. Some of my creditors were understandably trying to achieve a larger dividend from my IVA proposal than I could have managed to pay meaning bankruptcy would have ensued. Ostrich were able to negotiate a realistic monthly payment schedule which I feel I can afford. |

| Comment: As I work in the IVA industry I'm familiar with the terminology often used by those within my proffession. I'm not a betting man, but I'd wager that this was written by somebody within Ostrich FS. | ||
