My circumstances:

I am an Educational professional living in the midlands in full time employment, who had £96k of debt with a property wth nil equity.

My interaction with the company:

I had been referred to Phillip Allen via CCCS after seeking advice on how to manage my debts following an expensive divorce that had become unmanageable. From the onset my enquiry was handled in an efficient and professional manner. The advice given demonstrated that my IP had significant and apparently unbiased advice to offer. Initially, I was advised to consider bankruptcy but due to professional reasons I did not want to pursue this route. My IVA progressed smoothly without problems and I was able to secure a low dividend (which I really needed in order to proceed). Since then my situation has altered and a member of my family has loaned me sufficient money to enable me to settle my IVA commitments, as I do not think I would have been able to continue to meet its requirements. I can honestly say that the handling of my enquiry, proposal and IVA by my IP made, what was a situation that appeared to have no solution, into one that means I can see light at the end of the tunnel and finally get my personal finances back on track.

Why I gave the ratings I did:

I have rated them highly because the advice, service and customer care were excellent. Most importantly the final outcome has enabled me to move on without having to resort to bankruptcy, which is the whole idea - offering those people with significant financial problems a real alternative to bankruptcy. No paperwork went missing, response to correspondence was prompt, contact with any of the team was always friendly and at no point did I ever feel ‘judged’.

One thing they did - which really impressed me:

It is difficult to pinpoint one particular thing. Its the end result that really matters, but I would say the impartial advice impressed me. The advice was based on what was the best option for my own circumstances. Had I chosen to take that option it would not have resulted in any fees to the company.<br> Also, I was never made to feel like a number in an IVA factory. The contact and dealings were always on a personal level, for example, I did not need to quote a reference or number before anyone could talk intelligently to me about my IVA.

One thing they did - which I felt could be improved:

This is difficult because it was overall a positive experience. If I had to pick one, may having to wait between the drafting of the proposal and the creditors meeting. However, any contact from creditors had stopped during this time, so even during those couple of weeks my situation and the pressure had improved

Other points

My current circumstances are that my IVA has been settled and I have learnt that I never want to be in the same financial situation ever again!! I did manage to secure a low dividend and the proposal requested approximately 70%+ write off of debts.
