My circumstances:
My wife and i have debts over 76k. At the start of iva, both employed, no assets or savings.

IVA.com reports: Debt Free Direct has contacted this individual via Iva.com to discuss their comments. Debt Free Direct have advised that they have made significant improvements to their customer service to ensure that their clients receive the highest level of service. More recent customer reviews of their service can be found on their website www.debtfreedirect.co.uk/reviews/.

My interaction with the company:
Phoned debt free direct and was advised an iva would be better than bankruptcy{even though we have no assets or savings} They seemed very understanding on the phone but did not explain the fees at all.Sent the forms out quickly and set the wheels in motion. When our iva was approved, it was agreed at 89pence in the pound, but later on i discovered we were paying 96pence in the pound{no wonder we were still struggling}When i looked again at our proposal, our outgoings were more than our income because of this. I spoke to dfd on numerous occasion, only to be told the figures were correct and they could do nothing about it.
Why I gave the ratings I did:
When you take out an iva. you hope that they are working more for you and the creditors. Unfortunately debt free direct only interested in their pockets
One thing they did - which really impressed me:
First contact on phone
One thing they did - which I felt could be improved:
CUSTOMER SERVICE
Other points
going bankrupt. iva went one year paying £1228 a month. total paid £14763+ bank interest £226.23=£14962.23 nominees fees £3000, supervsors fees £2700, office holders expences £393.13, vat £1048.16 distributions £7820.94

Comment: I am employed by DFD. Since the date of your review, we have now set up a new Customer Support Team to ensure that any changes in circumstances, which either reduce your income or increase your expenditure are put to the creditors as soon as possible. Currently, we are helping over 200 clients every month change their IVA proposals to deal with their changes in circumstances.

Comment: Why exactly did the dividend increase? Putting aside the apparent lack of information you received, it is your responsibility to ensure your proposal is accurate. The terms and conditions of the IVA are ALL stated in the proposal which you would have signed to confirm you understood.

    Good Points
Very informative with lots of useful information. A lot of reviews on firms that really help understand their customer service and ability. The reviews appear to be genuine as they offer interesting insights. Didn't really use the the map but looks impressive!
    Bad Points
The site is a bit cluttered and sometimes hard to navigate around.
    General Comments
A useful site that is free to use and full of useful information about IVAs. If you are thinking of doing an IVA then this is a must use site.
